Happy Birthday Leo!

Well Little Man, you are 1 today, and we can hardly believe how fast the year has gone. A year ago today we had no idea how our lives were about to change. I was in New York City with Kristen and Kevin was working a night shift. One year ago tomorrow we found out you existed, and on the 12th the lawyer called and said "He's yours! What do you want to name him?". You were such a little peanut we could carry you in one arm, and when we woke up on the 13th (in the wee early hours), we realized you were not a dream. Of course, have you ever let us forget you were really here with your boisterous yells? We have loved getting to know you and watch your personality come out more each day. Your handsome brown eyes and joyful smile make our hearts melt each day, and you have brought so much laughter into our home. We are and always will be proud to be your parents, honored to have you as a son. In making us parents, God has taught us many things, the most important being of a love that is bigger than ourselves from a depth we didn't know existed.

In celebration, Kevin's family (minus Cassie and Lou) joined us all the way from Nebraska. I hope the drive was worth it for you, it sure was for us! We had a great weekend together, and had a fun party on Saturday with family and our Kosmicki friends. It snowed of course, but it was a beautiful snow and we were wishing we had a sled. I never knew how much work planning a kid party could be, but thanks to Kerry we got it all set up. We had a puppet show indoors and the kids seemed to enjoy that. Leo really enjoyed the cake and everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to him. By the time we got to the gifts, though, Leo, who was tired from wrestling with his buddy Will, had had enough and was ready for a nap, but Addison and Grace were every ready to help open the presents.

We enjoyed the rest of the weekend with the family though it seemed to fly by. Leo absolutely adores his cousins. He loved passing by Olivia's booster seat in the morning to see what she would finger-feed him, she was very good at sharing her food. And Leo really enjoyed watching Addison's tricks and skills. Grammy plowed through the weekend like an energizer bunny with all three grandkids vying for her attention and only took one nap, much deserved.

Today, on his actual birthday, we met our friends Will, Grace and Claire at the park for some play time, and then for treat we shared some fries and a vanilla shake. Leo's getting pretty good at the baby signs and was telling me "more, more!" and could not seem to get enough fries in his mouth at one time.

Some more good news, we seem to have an offer on our house that we have counter offered, and things look promising so far. It will be nice to be single home owners once again.
