Headed to NE

We are off to the great state of Nebraska this week, or as Leo says, "Kaka", for Aunt Bubba and Uncle Lou's wedding.  For those of you wondering, Bubba is Cassie, and I honestly think Leo has only heard Bubba, not Cassie.....sorry Cass!  We love Aunt Bubba and look at her picture everyday, so we are very excited to see her in person and watch Cassie and Lou get married.  This will be the last wedding in the immediate family for our generation, so we are looking forward to celebrating.  We will be making the drive in one day, so hopefully Leo will do ok.  We have lots of new books and dvds to help us out.

Well, even though spring has teased us a few times, winter is still hanging around here with occasional spurts of snow, which really put a kink in Leo's day.  The boy loves to be outside, no matter the weather, but there are still some days where I just don't want to freeze so I put a damper on his plans.  A sandbox is next on our list if we can find one, which has not been the case yet.  Leo also loves to sit in Kevin's car in the driver seat, with the door shut please mommy, and pretend to drive while inspecting the buttons and gadgets.  So I spend about 30-45 minutes a day standing outside the car, making sure he doesn't get hurt or somehow put the car in neutral, and mentally flash forward 14 years when he begins the REAL learning process, a prospect that I'm sure now unites me with my parents in fear.  Then I snap back as Leo bangs on the window to make sure I see the amazing seat belt he found.  Cars are simply amazing to Leo.  In pictures, even when cars are not the focal point, he finds them and gets so excited.  Spotting a bus while we are out and about is thrilling for him, and if we see a big truck("guk!"), we can forget about focusing on anything else.   Now if only he enjoyed sitting in the car seat IN the car.......

We had our first mini-slumber party this weekend.  On Friday we watched a friend from playgroup while his mom and dad went on a date.  At bedtime, we put both boys in Leo's room, and while they didn't get much sleep, it was amusing listening to them chat back and forth in the language only toddlers speak.  Logan and his mom came over again on Saturday to watch Leo while Kevin and I went on a much needed date.  Logan's comfort toy is a stuffed Tigger, and now Leo can be seen around our house with his own stuffed Tigger.  When we see his friends while we are out anywhere, Leo recognizes them and can even say their names which is pretty cute.  Always the social one.  At church on Sunday he sat in the laps of everyone at the pancake breakfast, and had something to tell each person.  He loves to give hugs and kisses to everyone we meet.

Tune in next week for pics of NE and of the wedding!
