As many of you know, we have our sights set on homeschooling the kids for as long as we can. Really, for as long as I can, and for now, we will just take it a year at a time. However, once being a preschool teacher myself, I have always enjoyed the social time the kids get at a preschool, just never have liked the price tag that goes with it.
So this past year we were part of a mom-led preschool. Our local youth foundation was kind enough to let us use their room when they weren't needing it, and it was a perfect setup for preschool. Each week a different mom would lead the lesson, and we met twice a week. We only began our year in February, but the kids made fast friendships. We ended our year with a party at the park, and we hope to see these friends again around town. Little Miss will be doing another mom-led preschool this upcoming school year, though this one will rotate from one house to another every few weeks. She has one friend that will be carrying over from last year to this new group, and they are great friends that look forward to being the only two girls in their new class. This will also give me some time with Little Man, as he starts Kindergarten here at the Welsh Academy. Our classroom got a bit of a makeover this summer and is ready for some "big kid" learning. My mom helped me refinish and reupholster a table and chairs, and we've already enjoyed doing some lessons on it. Our school year has not officially started, but the last one never really ended, we just took a 6 week break while we traveled the midwest.
We look forward to sharing our official homeschooling adventures with you!
